Description
This one’s for the nights when you don’t want a “project”—you just want something comforting, quick, and flexible enough to go with whatever you’ve got in the fridge. And let’s be honest, ground beef does the job like a champ.
Ingredients
The Essentials
- 2.2 pounds ground beef (about 1 kg)
- 1 tablespoon oil (go with what you have—vegetable, olive, even avocado)
Flavor Boosters
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Saucy Situation
- 3 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
Finishing Touches
- 1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 cup green onions, for garnish
Instructions
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and sauté until it gets that perfect golden color—don’t rush this part, it makes all the difference.
Stir in the garlic and let it sizzle for 30 seconds (just until fragrant, not burnt!).
Add the ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and break it up with a wooden spoon.
Sauté until browned and cooked through, no pink in sight.
Mix in the ketchup and mustard, stir well, then toss in the parsley.
Taste and adjust the seasoning. Finish with green onions and you’re done!
Notes
- Don’t skip the mustard—it adds that little something that makes people go “What is that?!” in the best way.
- Want it saucier? Add a splash of broth or even a spoonful of tomato paste.
- Got leftovers? Freeze them in flat zip bags for easy reheating (and way less space in your freezer).
